QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Registered Nurse License required
- Two years of experience preferred
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- {Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable}

Principal/School Nurse
JOB GOAL:
To assist in providing the fullest possible education opportunity for each student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the school district.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts school health service programs of immunization, sight and hearing testing
- Assumes responsibility for selection and referral of students in need of medical and dental care
- Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians and clinics on school medical matters
- Maintains up-to-date cummulative health records on all students
- Assumes authority, in the absence of school nurse, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness
- Visits student homes when necessary
- Participates with school staff in developing and implementing total school health program
- Contacts homes of children referred by principal
- Advises on modification of educational program to meet health needs of individual students
- Prepares and submits reports for the Superintendent and the State Governing Board of Health
- Authorizes exclusion and readmission of students in compliance with Governing Board Policy on infectious and contagious diseases
- Advises teachers on health matters, particularly regarding screening for student health defects
- Assists school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools
- Attends conferences regarding health services and health curriculum
- Participates in in-service training program
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten-month employee. Salary and work year to be established by the Governing Board.
